General terms and discussions in robotics.
This forum is for the exchange of ideas and information the sharing of unmanned robotics technologies between government, organizations, academia, industry and users.
Technology Outreach Centers have been forming as a means to facilitate execution of Section 1401 of Public Law 107-314, the Bob Stump National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2003. Section 1401 calls for a senior official of the Department of Defense to coordinate all DoD efforts to identify, evaluate, deploy and transfer to federal, state and local first responders technology items and equipment in support of homeland security. The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas’ Security Affairs (ASD(HD/ASA)), assigned this responsibility on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, initiated a Technology Outreach Center program to help close the interoperability gap between first responders at all levels and the DoD. Numerous challenges face these centers and ASD(HD/ASA) including: • Clarity of mission and value proposition; • Effective focus on the first responder; • Collaboration among centers, providers and users; • Strategy to facility vertical and horizontal interoperability; • And, funding and marketing. The intent of this forum is to share information and ideas on how these centers can effectively facilitate the excchange of these technologies as this concept evolves.
This Forum Container is targeted toward robotic vehicle organizations.
The San Diego Chapter enthusiastically engages in projects with the public sector for the advancement and sharing of common issues and resolutions through the application of specific knowledge areas, and is a value added resource for programs of all types related to ground, undersea and air unmanned vehicles.
This forum is for finding information on and engaging in discussions on mobile robotics standards and interoperability topics.
The technical committee will promote exchanges among researchers from academia, industry and government. The purpose is to identify the technologies and technical approaches to advance and mature the field of aerial robotics.
Compliance with STANAG 4586 allows NATO member nations to jointly support military operations using their own UAVs and ground control station equipment. This increases interoperability and allows data and information processed by member nation UAVs to be shared real-time through a common ground interface.
Many federal agencies and commercial operators are currently operating or seeking authority to operate Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in the National Airspace System (NAS). SC-203 products will help assure the safe, efficient and compatible operation of UAS with other vehicles operating within the NAS. SC-203 recommendations will be based on the premise that UAS and their operations will not have a negative impact on existing NAS users.
SAE Architecture Framework for Unmanned Systems, AIR5665 SAE JAUS Transport Considerations, AIR5645
JAUS is mandated for use by all of the programs in the Joint Ground Robotics Enterprise (JGRE). This initiative is to develop an architecture for the Domain of Unmanned Systems. JAUS is an upper level design for the interfaces within the domain of Unmanned Ground Vehicles. It is a component based, message-passing architecture that specifies data formats and methods of communication among computing nodes. It defines messages and component behaviors that are independent of technology, computer hardware, operator use, and vehicle platforms and isolated from mission.
ASTM Committee F41 on Unmanned Maritime Vehicle Systems (UMVS) was formed in 2005. F41 meets once each year, with approximately 50 members attending two days of technical meetings; it is often in conjunction with the Unmanned Systems North America Conference of AUVSI. This Committee addresses issues related to standards development for unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV) systems and unmanned surface vehicle (USV) systems to facilitate an interoperable, modular, and multi-functional family of platforms.
